Plitvice Lakes

The Plitvice Lakes are a national park in Croatia, in Plitvice Lakes Municipality. The river Korana has formed 20 lakes across the limestone and chalk barriers. Between the lakes there are many marvelous waterfalls and cascades. One of the last old-growth forests in Europe, it features an amazing ability to heal itself.

The lakes are divided into two major groups: Upper and Lower.

The larger upper lakes include:
* Prošc'ansko
* Ciginovac
* Okrugljak veliko
* Galovac
* Gradinsko

The bigger lower lakes are:
* Kozjak
* Milanovac

Croatia's Plitvice has been on the UNESCO world heritage list since 1979.
